MonoMyth.org Video - Journey of Odysseus

Here is a short video we recorded to do walk-throughs of charting the MonoMyth / Hero’s Journey. Though this one is not of the MonoMyth / Hero’s Journey of the Odyssey , it is the chronological steps of Odysseus’ voyage home.

We hope to do more of these videos, if it is helpful for you please comment to let us know. Encouragement is always appreciated!

Your time has not been wasted. I have watched this a few times, and has helped my endeavours very much

This video was great. I am learning about the monomyth in my AP Eng. 12 class, and in the process of researching it, happened upon this video. It actually helped explain what my teacher did not. Thanks!

I’ve never seen anything like this. I feel like I received my own private tutoring session. I was unfamilar with The Hero’s Journey and was advised to use it in teaching the Odyssey. My hope is students will make connections to the myth as it provides the basis for many movies they have seen, “Star Wars,” etc.

First, i have to say that you explain and break down the mono myth very well. I loved the whole video. The other thing i wanted to ask actually is: Which software is the one you use to construct those graphs?.

thanks

Your video was incredible. I am writing an Extended Essay for my International Baccalaureate diploma about Harry Potter being an Archetypical Hero and following Joseph Campbell’s Monomyth theory. This video has helped me remember what I learned all those years ago in middle school. I definitely found it worth while and will gladly use your site to help me finish this paper. Again, it’s a great video and helped a lot.

This was very helpful in my comprehension of the Odyssey for my Western Classics course. Thank you for breaking it down like this!

Constructive criticism on delivery. You need to focus on the story at hand. Speed it up. Leave the banter for later.
